Welcome to Alcoholics Anonymous in the Middle East. We, of the Middle East Regional Committee of Alcoholics Anonymous, (MERCAA), wish you a sober journey onwards.
MERCAA represents the collective membership and groups from the Gulf Corporation Countries (GCC) and other adjoining countries.
MERCAA was formed in 2005 and our primary purpose is to support anyone seeking help with his or her drinking problem.
We are guided by the principles and traditions of the world wide program known as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), founded in 1935.
Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have found a solution to their drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multi-identity and has no interest or opinions on any issues outside of our primary purpose.
Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.
MERCAA also facilitates the following within its member countries:
- Translations of the AA Literature into Arabic
- 12 step workshops for personal recovery from alcoholism
- Public Information workshops for professionals and communities of interest
- Annual regional convention to celebrate our sobriety and recovery
- Inter-country member support for fellowship development
